Thankful in the Small Things

Thankful in the small things

“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” (I Corinthians 1:10)

As the weeks go by, we tend to forget the many highlights that happened during these time periods. I was thinking specifically about this today when I finally received my Christmas presents from my dad’s parents. While I was thankful for the presents I received, including a remote control helicopter, I realized that some of the best things in life are not material things. Rather, the best gift is when we can be thankful for life itself. When we can become united in the agape love that the Lord Jesus gives us.

Recently, my mom hoped to get me into a Bible Hockey School run by NHL players and their respective coaches. I am not sure it can happen but this much I do know. The camp will combine two major aspects of my life — my Lord God and Saviour who loves me and my favorite sport hockey. The camp is scheduled for June which means that I would have to stay in another province for five days. The issue would be transportation and overnight accommodation because the hockey camp is during the week and not on a weekend when my mother has time off. Still, spending time at a hockey school that incorporates Bible teachings into the sport would be real fun.

But either way, I know that the Lord has a plan for my life. He even knows the details. I just have to seek Jesus and His righteousness and let Him do the rest “by the name of the Lord Jesus.” And, of course, continue being thankful for life itself.
