Rising to the Challenges
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James1:5
“For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding… Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.” Proverbs 2,6,and 9.
So I have come to a critical point in my life where a very important decision has to be made. That decision has to do with rising up to meet the unknown challenges that will inevitably come with quitting a relatively good paying job, taking on the challenges of a new job,and possibly pulling up stakes;and along with my family, eventually moving to a new province.
Yes,I believe that the time has come for some major changes in our lives. I firmly
believe that God has chosen this time to somehow use us in his grand plan. Some-
how, somewhere ,we will fit into the puzzle in the great battle for human souls.
That is not to say that we will necessarily be playing a leading role in that war. We
may not even do anything even remotely significant to that final end that will eventually be upon us. Every war needs its generals, its sergeants, and its privates. Most good and righteous battles war are not won by the generals, they are won by the selfless and courageous acts of the lower rank and file. With Gods blessing, and under his guiding light, the great battle against satan and his demons will also be won this way.
So,with Gods blessing, along with a desire to be more financially secure,we will make the move to western Canada. I have been toying with this idea for years. I’m quite certain that it is the right thing to do. Not only for the obvious job opportunities that are currently available, and the good and fair wages; but also to be in a more conservative and common sense driven area of this great nation.
I have always been a proud islander. Proud to be a descendant of those great, hard working, courageous highland Scots and Irish settlers who poured into P.E.I.in the latter part of the 18th century on into the mid 19th century. Fleeing religious persecution and starvation they packed their merger belongings into trunks and bags and came to the new world to start a new life full of hope and promise. They didn’t have any social net or promise of a good job and pension. Indeed they didn’t even have homes to move into; there were none. They put their faith in God and built everything from the ground up. This is my heritage, their legacy for me to build on.
A lot of things have changed since way back then. Liberal governments, entitlement culture, accepted immoral behavior, misinformation, disinformation, massive greed,etc.etc., etc. however,I digress. More on this later.
My immediate point is that if my ancestors could pull up stakes in the old world, knowing that they were going to a feral, cold, undeveloped place;yet put their faith in god and take that step off the edge of the cliff into the unknown, then surely I can do the same and make the move to Alberta. I sure ain’t facing what they faced.
Sometimes change is just what the doctor ordered. We just need to listen to our
subconscious, that is,God guiding us along;and embrace it. Rise up out of our comfort zones and meet the challenges life brings head on.
