In a world where we have used technology to make our daily lives easier we seem to be busier than previous generations. We have modified everything from the way we wash our clothes right down to how we cash our cheques which should have given us much more time than we seem to have. So what has happened to all of the spare time we created? In my opinion, we have found ways to fill it with small handheld devices and screens.
A few months ago I decided to separate myself from the Facebook world. It was hard at first because I had become accustomed to picking up my phone when I had a free moment to see what was happening. I felt like I was missing something. Soon I began to realize how much time I spent looking at what others were doing instead of actually going to do something. Thankfully I realized that I needed this break. I recently started to log back into Facebook but my time away has made me more conscious of the time I am spending on the app.
Lately I have been thinking to myself, where is my faith, when a coworker texted me the other day, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.” God gives us everything we need. His word tells us when we are in trouble He will provide a way out. (1 Corinthians 10:13) This helped me to realize even further what a detriment my time spent looking at a screen can be because I am not feeding my spirit the Word.
I expected to have faith but I was not feeding my Spirit. I feel technology is an easy way for the enemy to build a wall between us and God, to the point where we do not realize we are in constant spiritual warfare. The devil does not have to turn you over to witchcraft, he only has to keep you busy at other things. Anything keeping you from seeking the face of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Be a light onto the world. Be bold in your faith and know that this scripture is the truth:
“Be strong and courageous. The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9
Show people your faith by your works! People will see Christ in you. Just let it shine.
