Faith. Wherever one goes, the word faith is recognizable. Indeed, faith (as a term) is thrown around in so many ways. For example, “Have faith … it’ll work out.” Or, “stay faithful to your spouse.” “Keep the faith.” and “Faith in God.” In the dictionary, faith is defined as having complete trust or confidence in someone or something.  In the Bible, faith is described as one who holds a ‘strong belief in God or the doctrines of a religion —  based on spiritual apprehension rather then proof. At least, this is how faith is defined according to google 😉
Moreover, the word faith appears 336 times in the King James Bible. In later revised versions of the Bible, faith appears more frequently. Faith is mentioned 521 time in the Good News Bible!!!!! The same trend occurs with words similar to faith. In fact, the word faith is mentioned more times than the word love (310 in KJV), hope (130 in KJV), and/or kindness (48 in KJV). Each of these words are associated with faith.
But I’ve also wondered how to explain faith to another. As in, what exactly is faith? Because faith is most commonly referred to as something we cannot see or physically touch, the concept of faith creates havoc with our thinking. In this context, I have cited examples, wherein genuine and unfeigned love can be found. For instance, air…..we cannot see air moving but we know it’s there. Electricity….we cannot see it either but we definitely know when we don’t have it. WIFI. is yet another example — again something we cannot see or touch. However, as we also know, when any of these are missing, it can ruin our day pretty fast;)
Still, to me , faith is simple.. It is’s so simple it can’t be explained. I should also state that I don’t need proof to know Jesus exists. How can I believe this? Because I can feel His love in the deepest parts of me. When I’m scared, I talk to Jesus. When I’m sad, .I talk to Jesus. When I’m happy, I talk to Jesus. When things are going good in my life, I talk to Jesus. When things are going bad, I talk to Jesus. Yes, in so many aspects of my life I trust to Jesus.. And I trust in Jesus, even when things look bleak and scary or when I’m facing the unknown. I leave every thing in His hands. I trust everyday that no matter what Jesus is taking care of it……even when the devil is screaming in my face that I’m not important, that what I’m going through doesn’t matter.
Equally, faith can be tricky….but it’s innocence  too, particularly  when faith is enough to draw our Master’s attention toward us..  What makes faith an integral part of us? A childlike faith is something we should all strive to possess, especially as life gets harder….and the devil goes on the attack. With His love and peace in our hearts, we should be able to walk through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil, because He — our Lord and Saviour — walks the journey with us!
Yes, Jesus loves me this I know….for the Bible tells me so. Yes, Jesus loves me!!!
When life is attacking us from every corner…..sing that song to yourself. Think about the lyrics, and how simple, and yet inspiring these are. And then imagine how quickly the devil would be defeated if we all focused on the Lord Jesus … holding dear the faith we had as kids in Sunday school.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine….won’t let satan blow it out….I’m gonna let it shine.
Faith…..hold onto it, and don’t ever let it go. Let the light of Jesus shine in your heart each and everyday for He has a purpose just for you. And all it takes is faith to believe that Jesus shed His precious blood on the cross because He loves us beyond measure. He is the giver of life. He is the Light of the world. 😊
Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you — Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3)
