Your facts aren’t facts anymore

I know that every generation has it’s flaws.  I know that there will always be sin in this world because it is a fallen world.  I also know that until Jesus returns there will be plenty of knees that do not bow to His awesome wonder.  But just because I know this doesn’t make it any easier.

In today’s world we have more access to information than we have ever had before.  Where there was once encyclopedias that lined the shelves, now we have Google.  Where there used to be libraries, now we have Kobo’s to hold all of our reading material. Where there used to be truth… now we have bold faced lies.

Your facts are not facts anymore.  Those TV stations you are listening to that are telling you what is happening in the world, are no longer looking for the truth.  They are searching for the headline.  When money is the driving factor of everything they do, than truth no longer matters.  As long as there is some fraction of the truth in their story they are allowed to have their “freedom of speech.”

Donald Trump has made headlines… each one more ominous than the next. He has caused uproar after uproar with his speeches, past acts, and bold statements.  But where is the truth?

If you really want the truth you need to search for it.  You cannot just listen to the news reports or do a quick google search because you will not find it there.  You need to search until you actually find the facts.  You need to get to the bottom of the information tank, past the exploits and the garbage, and into the truth.  But most will not do this because that requires effort and thought, two things which are greatly lacking today.

As a Christian, we have an advantage when we seek the truth.  First we already have truth.  We can search for it inside the scriptures that apply just as much today as it did 2,000 years ago.  Second, those same scriptures tell us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask for it.  James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given him.”

Next time you “google” start with prayer.  Ask God to provide you with the correct information so that you can discern what is truth and what is fact.  Allow your actions to stand above the inflation and ensure your words speak truth.
